10 Things To Do While Self Isolating at Home

 


The Coronavirus, COVID-19, Rona, What ever you want to call it, we’re all thinking about it and everyone’s talking about it. And with all the noise going on surrounding the current status of our world, I personally found myself in moments of anxiety. You may feel lonely, or like your going through all of this by yourself but I promise you you’re not! We’re all in this together; in a time of social distancing, we’re almost brought closer together! While being cooped up inside you may be wondering what to do with yourself; your mind might be racing, worry might be trying to take over your mental space! I know that’s how I felt, until I realized that maybe I could change my perspective. Maybe this time of self isolation can be an opportunity. I sat on my bed and asked myself a question: who do I want to be at the end of all this? The thought blew me away, it gave me hope and put a fire in my belly! It gave me the vision for a future full of possibilities. And so I ask you the same question!   God willing when life goes back to normal, we can safely leave our homes, and the world is open again, who do You want to be? This question is the inspiration behind these 10 things you can do during self isolating at home.

 

1. Get Quiet and Think

Like my little !Aha! moment, powerful things can happen when we get quiet. So I invite you to sit down, relax, close your eyes, and drift away. Ask yourself the question. Who do I want to be? What do I want to work toward? What can I do with this time at home? 

2. Write It All Down

I'm sure you have a lot on your mind! Write about it! Express it, get it all out. And when you feel like your mind is clearing, write down the answer to the question above and make an action plan.

 3. Self Improvement & Self Discovery

This is the perfect time for some soul searching. Sometimes life happens so fast, we have no time for self reflection. Discover who you are, start working on changing those habits you wish to change. Become a better you!

4. Be Productive

Is there something that you’ve wanted to do but constantly had the excuse that you didn’t have the time? Well now you have the time! What are those little projects you’ve been putting off? Make a list and start checking tasks off.

5. Self Care

A little pampering can change everything. Light that candle, take that bath, read that book. Take that time to show yourself some TLC.

6. Connect 

Especially if you live alone it is imperative that you connect with those you love. Call up or FaceTime your besty, check in on your family, stay connected to those you love.

7. Consider a Social Media Detox

Never did I ever think I’d experience anything like this in my lifetime, it sounds like something you read about in history books like the Bubonic Plague. The difference between that pandemic and this one, is social media. Never before have we had access to so much information. With a rise in viral videos, memes and images filled with negativity, anxiety, and fear, it’s hard not to get caught up in it all. I’m not telling you to not be informed, I’m suggesting that you lessen your social media intake for your peace of mind. If you find that social media’s isn’t affecting you in a negative way, by all means continue laughing at Cardi  B’s new hit single “Coronavirus”!

8. Plan For The Future 

The future is our greatest hope right now, so create plans that allow you to look forward to it. A trip abroad next year, a creative project you want to share with others, or a life change. 

9. Learn A New Skill

Have you ever wanted to learn to code, ever wanted to learn a language, well this is the perfect time! I’m personally learning Spanish and sharpening up my ukulele skills. 

10. Create. Create. Create

Pick up that paint brush, write that song, start that business, write that book! Remember when I told you to think about who you want to be? Well it’s time to take action!
